Manual Therapy
Manual therapy is a broad term that applies to various skilled techniques that your Physical Therapist will perform to improve soft tissue restrictions and joint mobility. The goal of any manual technique is to improve the limitations of the joint or soft tissue to a normalized pattern, decrease your pain, and improve function.
How do you know if these techniques are right for you? Any patient with pain, hypomobility, and soft tissue and/or joint restrictions, may benefit from receiving manual therapy. The answer will ultimately depend on your evaluation with your Physical Therapist, which will include a comprehensive examination of the restricted joints and soft tissues to see how this impacts your overall movement quality.
Manual Therapy Techniques can include: Soft Tissue Mobilization / Deep Friction Mobilization, Joint Mobilizations, Passive Range of Motion, Manual Trigger Point Release, Massage Gun, Cupping, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Massage (IASTM), and more.
